The Dame

I was commissioned by the renowned Welsh drag artist Ceri Dupree to create a colourful rainbow costume he designed for his pantomime performance of Aladdin at The Opera House, Manchester. Where he was playing the part of Aladdins mother Widow Twankey. Having previously worked with Ceri during my time as a dresser for Rhondda Cynon Taff pantomime, I felt flattered that he remembered me and asked me to make this costume. He visited my studio in Treorchy for measurements and fittings, and he also sourced the fabric for the costume. Working with Ceri was a delight; he’s a consummate professional with a vast collection of fantastic costumes. Bringing his vision to life was a joyful and colourful experience, and I was thrilled with the final result. It felt like a true representation of his original design, and as someone who enjoys working with colour, tassels, and embellishments, this project was a personal delight for me.
