It was my second time collaborating with director Jamie Adams as the costume designer for his 2022 film “She is Love.” This improvisational comedy centres around a divorced couple, Patricia (Haley Bennet) and Idris (Sam Riley), who unexpectedly cross paths again after many years at a countryside retreat. What begins as an awkward encounter soon leads to the surprise rekindling of a long-lost love. The film also stars Marisa Abela as Louise.

This film was shot during lockdown and took us to Cornwall for two weeks to film this feature. Jamie has forged a significant career crafting delicate improvisational dramas filled with limerence and loss. Working on this film was an incredible experience. The dedication, passion, and talents of everyone involved, including filmmakers, collaborators, cast, and crew, were palpable, and the film truly reflects the value of the collective effort. The nature of improvisation meant I had to be quick and forward-thinking with any changes that arose in the story for costume adjustments. However, I absolutely thrive in this fast-paced environment; it’s exhilarating and fills me with adrenaline. Working with Jamie, as always, was an absolutely incredible journey that continually challenges me as a costume designer, something I relish. I sincerely hope to continue working with him in the future.
